LUMINA - the truly environmentally friendly gloss board

Presenting a new technology in foil application which allows a layer of clear PET recycled polyester film to be laminated onto an MDF substrate. LUMINA is available in 16mm, E1, decorative gloss MDF panels. Offering a colour matched reverse in a durable matt melamine finish, LUMINA provides an improved visual effect to joinery.

LUMINA offers greater gloss and depth of colour over conventional gloss high pressure laminates. Unlike other high gloss board products which use polyurethanes, LUMINA is UV stable, offers low VOC's, a higher gloss index, and a high scuff and stain resistant surface. LUMINA makes for an elegant and stylish solution to joinery doors and panels.

See LUMINA on display at our Designex stand #1120 in April. Be sure to drop in and view this unique finish.

designer's comments

"SBA have recently been involved with the design of a new ESD concept store for KFC resulting with the introduction of a fresh finishes palette across KFC's fit-out standards generally.

The opportunity to introduce a fresh finishes palette to KFC's most recent concept store rollout resulted in a search for a much deeper & richer red laminate not used to date on KFC projects. Duropal's Ruby Red provided the added depth and body sought, bringing about a new era of standard finishes to be implemented to KFC's palette.

The main requirements for the laminate were primarily dictated by colour selection, however the choice of 4 different surface structures for this colour such as sanded, crystal gloss, velvet and CT was impressive."

designer's comments...

"We chose Tekform as the range of colours and textures which provided a successful match to the desired outcome for Hard Yakka, in both appearance and price point. The availability and stock levels of the product were also critical for a national roll out and Tekform also delivered in this regard."

designer's comments

"All materials selected for the new Ron Bennett Sydney flagship store were primarily chosen for their durability. The clients brief required a distinctively masculine feel. In order to fulfil this brief Duropal Rustica textured board and laminate was used instead of a timber veneer for all the joinery offering a veneer (texture and colour) with cost effectiveness. The Duropal Rustica offered this and was specified for its veneer-like texture and colour and serves to compliment the product whilst setting the gentleman's club feel.

As result we were extremely pleased to have found a product that was both durable and cost effective without having to compromise on aesthetics."
